Job Overview

The Salesforce Systems Analyst will focus on expanding Salesforce use across departments, moving from foundationConnect to Salesforce GM, as well as supporting and maintaining the integrity of the Salesforce instance, including integrations with external applications. The Salesforce Systems Analyst will partner with all departments to ensure that Salesforce and other applications and platforms meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders within this philanthropic intermediary. They will also provide business analyst support for system enhancements and perform configuration updates, testing, end-user training, and deployments.

Responsibilities

Salesforce Administration: Serve as a primary resource for all Salesforce administration, support and enhancements for 30+ users, including user account maintenance, configuration builds, updates, tests, and deployment, including grantee applications, grantee reports, and communication templates; including but not limited to:

  • Work with consultants to rebuild our Salesforce business processes and workflows to move from foundationConnect to Salesforce GMS, and project manage the rolling out of the new system and procedures
  • Manage database user administration functionality, including provisioning logins for staff
  • Develop and maintain organizational reports and dashboards in Salesforce
  • Collaborate consistently with department leaders to ensure that the database captures and can report on data requirements to meet organizational needs

System and Process Improvements: Work closely with multiple internal teams to resolve issues, design and implement process changes, and make enhancements; including but not limited to:

  • Develop, refine, test, and update system workflows to support efficient processes across grantmaking, development, communications, and impact and learning
  • Create, manage, and update test plans and test scripts, and manages bug tracking and resolution

Manage Integrations: Ensure overall integrity of coding framework and field mapping in the database and integrated systems; including but not limited to:

  • Perform system updates and platform upgrades as needed, working with external vendors as needed
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing, and negotiate to ensure acceptance of the product/ enhancement
  • Oversee, updates and troubleshoots integrations between Salesforce and other systems (includes Sage Intacct accounting system via Workato)

System Documentation: Document system configuration practices for on-going learning and clarification of system design; including but not limited to:

  • Create and/or update user training documentation, including creation of training videos
  • Support staff training on new system features and releases
  • Engage in online communities to learn and document how other grantmaking organizations are using their system and make recommendations on how Borealis can also leverage system configurations

Other Duties: As a member of the Borealis staff, the Salesforce Systems Analyst performs certain functions that are not specific to their job, but support the organization as a whole. This includes:

  • Submitting and approving expense reports and approving timecards by stated deadlines
  • Attending all staff meetings and required trainings and events
  • Participating in organizational development and change processes, including serving on committees or special project teams
  • Model Borealis’ culture and values; align outcomes, practices, and communications within the organization’s culture
  • Manage special projects and other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, plus 5 years related work experience, or a combination of education and experience
  • Five (5) years of experience supporting Salesforce, with direct hands-on work
  • Salesforce certification as Administrator, Advanced Administrator, and Business Analyst are strongly preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce in a nonprofit and/or philanthropy environment, with a strong understanding of the platform, including foundationConnect and/or Nonprofit Success Pack
  • Experience working with vendors and partnering with staff and consultants on system configuration and updates
  • Experience directly managing a system conversion or migration
  • Strong experience using the declarative capabilities of the Salesforce platform
  • Working knowledge of custom development capabilities for both Classic and Lightning Experience
  • Able to configure and administer Conga Composer and Conga Sign
  • Experience supporting integrations with other cloud based applications, ideally experience using Workato or similar app
  • Experience using systems and tools such as Zoom, Google Suite, Slack, Asana
  • Grants management and/or development/fundraising experience is preferred, but not required

  • Ability to apply disability justice lens to making systems accessible

Work Environment (Conditions and Physical Demands)

This job operates in a professional, virtual, home office or co-working environment, with occasional local and national travel. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including laptop computer and cell phone. The employee is generally required to spend long periods of time sitting, typing, and working at a computer. May require the ability to occasionally lift and transport items.
