About Trevor

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. We are a non-profit that provides 24/7 life-saving support via phone, text, and chat. We also operate the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth and run innovative research, education, and advocacy programs. We’ve been saving lives every day for over 20 years.

Overview of the role

The Product Manager will focus on planning and developing solutions for the crisis services platform. You will participate in user research and collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and developers to determine product requirements, all while having a keen eye for using data to drive decisions. You will own your product backlog while also developing a deep understanding of the impact each task will have on users and how the completion of those tasks will move The Trevor Project towards its organizational goals.

Who you are

  • Experienced. You’ve gained 2+ years of real-world experience as a product professional which allows you to understand a problem quickly and then begin developing and communicating strategy to organizational leaders, developers, and designers.

  • User-focused. You believe that building robust feedback pipelines helps validate assumptions and ensure product strategy is informed by user needs, which allows you to deliver an amazing end-to-end experience.

  • Agile and Scrum Savvy. You’ve worked on Agile or Scrum teams (among other styles) and you can articulate how these methodologies will allow for fast pivots and continuous improvement.

  • Data-driven. You know that without data and analytics it's impossible to rigorously identify or pursue the highest impact improvements to a system or service.

  • Collaborative. You're an active listener and clear communicator that has the ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams.

  • Organized and efficient. You’re capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.

  • Inspirational. You love working with people and know how to excite them about the opportunities to use technology to improve the work that we do.

  • Passionate. You are excited about the opportunity to use your incredible talent to save and improve the lives of LGBTQ youth across the country and globe.

  • Fun. The work we do is very serious, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have fun. We know how to have a good time and you should too.

What you’ll do

  • Define the product roadmap and effectively communicate the strategic vision of your product with other stakeholders

  • Deliver results by prioritizing and aligning teams on a product vision while discussing the required trade-offs and their implications

  • Participate in the user research process to develop a deep understanding of user needs and incorporate them into the product roadmap

  • Develop expertise in one of the following domain areas: crisis counselor experience optimization, supervisor and workforce optimization, or online community building

  • Establish clear metrics and communicate with your team about both department successes and areas for improvement

  • Demonstrate accountability and ownership of the product throughout its lifecycle

  • Provide vision and direction to the agile development team and stakeholders throughout releases and projects

  • Generous vacation and holidays (like a full day off to celebrate Harvey Milk Day!), including three half-day Fridays during the summer

  • Comprehensive health insurance (we pay 100% of your premiums for medical, dental, and life), including gender affirmation surgery

  • Flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S. (we provide the technology, a monthly internet reimbursement and a reimbursement to outfit your work-from-home space!)

  • Fun virtual office environment and passionate team

  • Online Subscription to Headspace, a digital meditation platform

  • Meaningful work at an organization that is saving the lives of LGBTQ young people across America every day

  • The Trevor Project is an equal opportunity employer
