Summary of Position:

The Data Engineer will be responsible for analyzing raw data, developing and maintaining datasets, and improving data quality and efficiency to advance the organization’s mission. They will use various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems. Create algorithms and overall strive for efficiency by aligning data systems with organizational goals. They will determine project design and be essential in identifying solutions to complex data problems that will enhance the organization's ability to access data and use new analytical tools.


Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and organize raw data.
  • Build data systems and pipelines.
  • Evaluate business needs and objectives.
  • Conduct complex data analysis and report on results.
  • Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling.
  • Build algorithms and prototypes.
  • Combine raw information from different sources.
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.
  • Develop analytical tools and programs.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and architects on several projects.
  • Work with large & growing child care datasets using descriptive statistics and data visualization.
  • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned or required.


Qualification and Experience:

  • Degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, IT or similar field, master’s a plus. A Bachelor's and 4-6 years related required.
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Experience coding in at least one programming language (Python preferred).
  • Ability to write and tune complex SQL queries.
  • AWS Certified Database and Data Analytics or significant progress towards AWS Certification required.
  • Experience working with at least one BI tool (AWS QuickSight preferred).
  • Experience building data systems and pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database design.
  • Great numerical and analytical skills.
  • Experience consuming data from CRM systems such as HubSpot a plus.

  • Proven leadership skills, including mentoring junior Data Engineers
  • Proven experience in developing data systems to solve real world problems.
  • Passionate about solving difficult problems.
  • An excellent communicator and listener who helps others understand both problems and  solutions.
