Traditional health care is broken. Galileo is here to fix it. We’re a rapidly growing health startup that combines intuitive design and clinical expertise to deliver affordable, quality care for all.

Galileans, as we like to call ourselves, are dedicated to flipping the traditional health care model into a modern solution for today—and beyond. Our empathetic, mission-driven culture puts our patients first, celebrates creative problem solving, and moves quickly to build great products. Our teams work collaboratively, so there’s plenty of day-to-day interaction. We believe in a hybrid, flexible working environment and have team members across the U.S. and the UK.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Director of Engineering, Product Engineering, you’ll manage multiple teams of engineers enabling us to drive better outcomes for our patients.  You'll be responsible for our core clinical applications, patient experience and internal developer platform.  You'll partner closely with the Product team to build roadmaps, set priorities and deliver software that is highly reliable, available and efficient.  You'll be hands-on with architecture when needed but recognize when it's best to let your team drive.

By being accountable for your team's output, you'll collect and refine metrics around product delivery and move the team in the right direction.  You'll encourage a culture where everyone's perspective is valued and productively manage conflicts when they arise.

You'll champion engineering excellence and hold a high bar while recruiting and promoting top talent within your team.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Lead multiple teams maintaining and developing many products
  • Work closely with Product Management, engineers, and cross-functional teams to develop and execute a roadmap to take the product to the next level
  • Bring new ideas, designs, and tools to the table, drive technical discussions and decision making related to the development and technology stack.
  • Establish and promote best practices across cross-functional teams
  • Initiate conversations around goal setting and give regular feedback and coaching
  • Actively participate in recruiting beyond interviews—sell candidates, build a network, assist in headcount planning, etc

ABOUT YOU

We would love to hear from you if you have the following or equivalent experience:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years of experience with an advanced degree.  In lieu of a degree, 11+ years of relevant experience may suffice.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Have experience managing teams developing and scaling microservices using modern cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Experience with AWS preferred.
  • Practiced expertise using Scrum to drive high team velocity and satisfaction
  • Exposure to product development in frameworks like Flask and Django
  • Ability to lead and grow an engineering organization in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Bonus Points for healthcare industry experience

Compensation range:

$152,000 - $260,000 based upon prior experience, performance, and market dynamics

Benefits

  • Medical / Dental / Vision insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account
  • Health Savings Account + match
  • Company paid STD/LTD, AD&D, and Life insurance
  • Paid Family Leave
  • 401K + match
  • Paid Time Off

HOW WE HIRE

We look for talent from a wide range of backgrounds—including, but not limited to—race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, religion, disability, and veteran status. Galileo is an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees with a qualifying disability or conflict with a sincerely held religious belief, unless doing so would cause an undue hardship or fail to eliminate a direct.
