Audere is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) building software solutions to revolutionize detection, treatment, and eradication of diseases like COVID-19, malaria, and HIV. Funded primarily by the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation, Audere partners with global health NGOs, innovative diagnostics manufacturers, and similar mission driven organizations in low and middle income countries to deliver simple-to-use digital solutions and scalable cloud services to make a positive impact in the world. Our team includes experienced technologists hailing from some of the largest software and healthcare companies, bringing their skills, passion, and expertise to bear as we create novel approaches leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision.

We’re a small, vibrant startup and everyone here is hands-on, proactive, and committed to the mission. If you’re passionate about creating and delivering cutting edge solutions for some of the world’s hardest to solve problems, have a growth mindset, embrace ambiguity, love data, and are willing to be scrappy - we’d love to talk to you!

As a Data Scientist at Audere, you will build, deploy, and maintain the data pipelines, reporting systems, and visualizations we use to turn data into insights. You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Business Development, and external partners to define requirements, design solutions, break work down into a well prioritized plan, evaluate trade-offs, and define and measure success. You’ll proactively analyze data sets from the field to identify interesting patterns and drive internal discussions about your findings. You’ll help product and engineering teams identify opportunities to improve our apps and services based on observations of production data.  You’ll partner with our AI team to develop metrics for evaluating AI performance and then build automated systems to track these metrics. This role is critical to the success and functioning of the team and to the success of Audere in delivering on our mission.

If you enjoy working in a rapidly changing environment, dealing with lots of moving pieces, learning new technologies and systems and influencing the strategic direction of a uniquely positioned digital health organization, this role will provide opportunities for learning and delivering life-changing impact for people globally.

This role reports to the CTO.

Responsibilities include:

  • Authoring data pipelines in Python to transform data in relational and key-value stores into schemas suitable for reporting

  • Creating reports and live dashboards in Tableau and Metabase over data stored in Postgres

  • Performing ad-hoc queries on data to identify patterns/anomalies worth exploring

  • Presenting data analyses to engineering, product, and business development teams

  • Proactively identifying opportunities to improve products based on data

  • Partnering with the AI team to define metrics for AI system performance

  • Developing/improving automated systems to calculate AI system metrics on new AI models

  • Monitoring dashboards and incoming production data to flag anomalies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Computer science, data science, or related technical background and education

  • 1-3 years of Data Science experience leading complex projects with diverse stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of basic statistics

  • Familiarity with Python for data analysis, SQL, Tableau - or similar experience and willingness to learn

  • Strong ability to embrace ambiguity or competing priorities, and thrive in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent project management, attention to detail, stakeholder communication, and presentation skills

  • Experience working with a distributed team with diverse ideas, backgrounds, and perspectives

  • Willingness to learn and a desire to grow in a mission-driven start-up organization

 Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with artificial intelligence development including machine learning and computer vision

  • Experience working with git, Jira, Confluence, and Slack

  • Experience using bash scripting

  • Experience with digital health solutions

At Audere, we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone can do their best work and believe our team should reflect the diversity of the people we serve - race, gender, age, ability, cultures, and beliefs. We are a team of smart, dedicated technologists who love to have a laugh and to solve meaningful world problems by applying the latest technology. Will you join us?
