Interested in joining a growing company where you will work with talented colleagues, enhance a supportive and energetic culture, and be part of the climate solution? At Energy Solutions, we focus on the big impacts. And we believe that market-based programs can be a powerful force to deliver large-scale energy, carbon and water-use savings. For 28 years, we’ve harnessed that power to offer proven, performance-based solutions for our utility, government, and institutional customers.

We are currently seeking a Senior Data Project Manager to join our Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) team. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience conducting data analysis and managing complex technical projects and will enjoy working with a passionate team to understand, plan, manage, and execute the intricacies of data projects. Data projects are diverse but may involve:

  • Modeling the energy, environmental, and economic impacts of distributed and community solar programs
  • Developing databases and Tableau dashboards for prioritization, public reporting, and strategy
  • Conducting complex data analysis to support program initiatives

The Sr. Data Project Manager will be a vital part of bringing these data projects to fruition. By orchestrating the contributions of data analysts and researchers, the Sr. Data Project Manager will help the team be more than the sum of its parts. By working through the specific challenges of data projects with the team, the Sr. Data Project Manager will help put ambitious high-level ideas into practice. An ideal candidate would also be able to serve as an individual contributor on data analysis projects.

Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working with the DERs project team staff to understand the overall goals and constraints of a data project
  • Working with data analysts and researchers to understand the required tasks, their dependencies, level of effort, and which team member skillsets are the right fit for the task
  • Facilitating conversations with technical staff to brainstorm and problem-solve when challenges arise; synthesizing conversations into pragmatic next steps
  • Fostering a positive and collaborative work environment for project teams
  • Developing and maintaining project timelines and organizing “sprints” toward project milestones
  • Orchestrating work using Kanban-style task tracking systems: writing task specification, prioritizing tasks, assigning tickets and following-up on their completion
  • Working with the team to develop and coordinate processes that ensure quality control
  • Managing data projects to be completed on schedule and within budget
  • Facilitating the progress of multiple projects and bringing them to conclusion
  • Communicating project progress and challenges to team staff who are providing project oversight
  • Conducting data analysis, including analysis and visualization using Tableau

Minimum qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in physics, mathematics, engineering, economics, environmental science, computer science, data science, a related technical field, or a non-technical field with some technical experience
  • A minimum of eight years of work experience and/or graduate school
  • Experience conducting analysis with Tableau
  • Data literacy: a functional understanding of data granularity, data pipelines, relational databases, data visualization, and scripted approaches to data analysis (enough to guide work)
  • Flexibility and adaptability in regard to project focus
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office
  • Enjoy a collaborative team environment
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination

Preferred qualifications:

  • Software design experience, such as business and functional requirements, user interface, software design processes, and usability testing
  • Literacy in Agile frameworks of Scrum or Kanban management
  • Experience with software product management
  • Experience on projects related to modeling energy, environmental, and/or economic impacts

Salary DOE: $89k - $125k/Annually

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
