Position Overview:

We're looking for a talented UI/UX Manager to join our growing UX team. This is a full-time position and can be based in our offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida or Brooklyn, NY. As the UI/UX Manager, you will be involved in every aspect of the product ideation process.

Your responsibilities are:

  • Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into useful and valuable products/features for our users (teachers, students, administrators).

  • Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers and content strategists as part of the ideation process, from conception until launch.

  • Participate, lead and coordinate user research and design validation.

  • Identify actionable product and design opportunities from user research.

  • Produce high quality, detailed deliverables including personas, journey maps, scenario diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes

  • Produce high quality visual and motion design assets that align with our brand and established patterns

  • Support development through collaboration to ensure the highest quality product

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of Product Designers and User Researchers, providing design direction and pushing the quality of our work to evolve the user experience for our whole product portfolio

  • Empower our existing team of talented designers to do their best work

The perfect candidate:

  • Must have excellent user experience design and leadership skills, clearly demonstrated in an online portfolio.

  • Has worked on apps for extreme users (kids) and/or users with different skill levels.

  • Has a strong design sensibility and ability to empathize with our users, both educators and students in grades K-12.

  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit – you’re not here just to execute; challenge us and inspire us and make this your company too!

  • Is passionate about bringing technology into the classroom and has knowledge of education technology trends.

  • Has a proven track record of designing for responsive web and native mobile, owning the entire UX lifecycle from ideation through development handoff.

  • Has experience using Sketch, Abstract, Invision, and Illustrator for design.

  • Has a proven track record of leading research projects from generative to design validation, conducted both onsite and remote.

  • Has experience facilitating design sprints and project kick-offs

  • Has great communication skills: you should be able to articulate your design decisions and the problems you're solving

  • Has incredible precision, attention to detail, and organization skills.

  • Is comfortable presenting ideas and design concepts to small and large crowds

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience in developing educational technology products and knowledge of pedagogy is a plus

  • Ideally have experience managing a global team of designers

  • 4+ years as a manager of a design team

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
