About the Position

Digital Promise’s Learning Sciences Research (LSR) team focuses on the why, what, and how of learning in and out of school. The LSR team has developed a growing portfolio of research projects that includes basic research on learning, curriculum design, teacher support, and research on emerging learning technologies. Our diverse team is committed to excellence, collaboration, and making a significant impact on the practice and policies of teaching and learning.

We are seeking an organized and enthusiastic Research Program Associate to join our team and provide vital support to our co-Executive Directors and to the overall work of the LSR team. You will be a key player in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the group, fostering effective coordination and communication within the group, managing complex scheduling requirements and meeting logistics, and helping us achieve our research goals. Your time will be divided into providing direct support to the co-Executive Director, supporting the activities of LSR overall, and assisting on tasks related to specific research projects as needed. You will report to and be mentored by the Research Program Manager of our team to develop your skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Communication:
    • Facilitate communication within LSR through team meetings, email updates, Slack, and internal documentation.
    • Conduct professional correspondence by phone, Slack and email with external collaborators, funders, and team members on other Digital Promise teams.
    • Maintain records that support communication activities and processes, such as the team roster and memberships on Slack channels.
  • Organization and Scheduling:
    • Support the two Executive Directors with weekly scheduling, communication and travel tasks, for example, communicating with an external collaborator to find a common meeting time; following up to obtain information from an external collaborator who has not yet responded to a request; identifying possible hotels or flights for a trip.
    • Organize group resources and materials to ensure efficient workflow, for example, keeping the commonly used documents in the group’s Google Drive accurately named and updated, and archiving older or less often used documents.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining plans, timelines, and milestones for activities that engage the whole LSR group.
    • Support larger research projects and proposal efforts in tasks such as onsite event support, document preparation, and other management needs.
    • Manage LSR Group calendar invitations, meeting schedules, and coordination
  • Record Keeping:
    • Maintain meeting notes from LSR group meetings.
    • Assist in collecting the group’s recent accomplishments, publications, conference appearances and the like.
    • Support Executive Directors with meeting reporting requirements, both internally and externally.
  • Other Duties:
    • As time allows, provide administrative support to the LSR management team, including travel arrangements and logistics, budget management, and event planning.
    • Identify and proactively address potential roadblocks and risks within assigned tasks.
    • Contribute to a positive and collaborative research environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, communication, business administration) preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in project, program, or research coordination and support.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment dealing successfully with multiple short- and long-term priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills, with ability to engage across the team positively and proactively.
  • Demonstrated interest in education or social sciences research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with standard office and cloud software (e.g., Google Docs, Excel, Slack) with an ability to quickly adapt to new tools. Experience with Salesforce and/or Asana is a plus.
  • High attention to detail and a “can-do” spirit.

Working Conditions:

Digital Promise Global is a hybrid organization. Employees are expected to travel at least 4 times a year for in-person meetings and the annual staff retreat. Additional travel may be required based on role and responsibilities.

(a) Travel up to 15%: Role will require travel for quarterly in-person team meetings as well as travel to support specific projects’ in-person events.

(b)Physical/Sensory Demands Fast-paced working environment. Extensive computer usage and online engagement & communication. Must be willing to build inclusive relationships and collaborate with employees at all levels within the organization and external partners.

(c)Special Provisions:
Rarely will work outside of normal business hours, such as weekends and evenings be required, but, as a national organization, the role may occasionally require meetings outside of normal business hours for your location.

Compensation

We consider candidate experience and location when determining where a candidate may fall within that range. Digital Promise offers a competitive total rewards package including coverage of 85% of health insurance premiums for employee coverage and 75% of health insurance premiums for dependent and family coverage, 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 3% 401k employer contribution, 3% employer 401k match, and a flexible work environment.

The full-time salary range for the Research Program Associate position based on geographical regions is listed below, with an exact salary depending on relevant experience.

California: $67,320 - $73,260

DC Metro Area & NYC: $61,200 - $66,600

National: $55,080 - $59,940
