Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Product Manager to lead the development of our groundbreaking devices, including the ultrasound probe, Butterfly’s proprietary chip technology, carts, and accessories. This is a highly technical product management role where you will drive the creation of products that are technically excellent, aesthetically appealing, and easy to use. Your work will directly impact the healthcare industry by delivering innovative solutions that enhance patient care. This is reporting to the VP Product.
Responsibilities:
- Drive significant strategy and execution that can transform Butterfly’s trajectory in the medical device industry.
- Understand Butterfly’s strategic and competitive position in the future of ultrasound, including chips, accessories, carts and probes.
- Deliver hardware products that are aligned with our mission and recognized as best in the industry.
- Manage relationships with partners, ensuring they are successful and able to deliver value to our platform.
- Plan, initiate, and manage projects for device products and platforms.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive product vision, define product requirements, coordinate resources from other groups (engineering, industrial design, legal, regulatory, etc.), and guide the team through key milestones.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to balance the needs between near-term product requirements and long-term technological advancements.
- Incorporate data, research, and market analysis to inform product strategy and roadmap.
- Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where processes are fluid and creative solutions are the norm.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in Product Management, particularly with highly technical hardware products.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Preferably have prior experience working as a developer or hardware engineer.
- Proven experience working collaboratively with engineering, industrial design, and user research teams.
- Strong background in industrial design with a focus on creating products that are technically excellent, aesthetically appealing, and easy to use.
- Critical thinking and analytical leadership skills.
- Experience presenting to senior executive audiences.
- Background in a consumer-focused technology company or medical device industry.
- Experience building hardware products from the ground up (0-1 products) or working on platform/ecosystem products.
- Skilled in managing strategic partner relationships or coordinating roadmaps and deliverables with third parties.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate a full product lifecycle, integrating customer feedback into product requirements, and driving prioritization through pre- and post-launch execution.
Location
At Butterfly we offer a hybrid work environment. For most employees, this means part time in the office (two or more days a week). This is a hybrid position and will be based out of our office in New York City, NY.

Compensation
Our estimated salary for this role is between $190,000 - $215,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.
For this role, we are only considering candidates who are legally authorized to work in the United States and who do not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status.
