Duties: The Software Engineer (multiple positions open) at Earnest LLC in San Francisco, CA will build software that is revolutionizing consumer lending to automate the loan approval process. Utilize Node.js and React/Redux to deploy services in Docker and Kubernetes on AWS, while integrating with other internal microservices to store a bulk of our data in Postgres and Amazon S3. Integrate data science and machine learning models to automate loan decisions. Integrate against third-party APIs to gather and analyze additional data; and launch new product lines and other lines of credit. Build customer software products and solutions using Node.js, Scala, React/Redux and Docker. Document technical designs in Confluence using proven software design principles and diagrams; and troubleshoot, identify, and fix defects through standard techniques, such as debugging, profiling and logging, perform log analysis via Splunk, and trace reproduction steps to replay user sessions. Participate in various agile software development process meetings, such as daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives, sprint planning and software effort sizing to document, decompose and size project stories in JIRA into development tasks. Review and provide critical feedback on Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), Epics, and Stories written by Product Managers in JIRA. Provide recommendations to Product Manager, Director, or Tech Leads on alternative product or technical solutions that would optimize the proposed product feature in terms of speed of delivery, superior customer experience and/or cost saving. Provide rotating on-call support for production application software system(s) that comprise Earnest’s customer facing and internal lending systems; and during on-call support. Respond to system alerts, triaging the problem via Splunk log and dashboard analysis, New Relic system and application monitors and AWS Cloudwatch monitors to determine the severity and priority of the problem. Liaise with strategic business partners to accelerate the funding of loans. Reports to the San Francisco Office, but telecommuting is permitted.
