Programs include Project Baseline - our research initiative to increase participation and evidence generation in clinical research; Onduo - our personalized virtual care platform, which includes connected tools, lifestyle coaching and clinical support; and Debug - our effort to reduce the threat of mosquito-borne diseases by combining machine learning with sterile insect technique. We’re also actively working to combat the spread of COVID-19 through new programs like Healthy at Work

The Medical Devices Software team is building a revolutionary imaging device. This device uses various kinds of cameras in order to close medical gaps. The imaging system mixes commodity electronics and computer vision solutions. As a Software Engineer on our Medical Devices Software team, you'll use your strong system software architecture and programming skills to help us develop products that physically interface with human beings to help them live happier, healthier lives. Our team supports multiple Verily projects, so this role provides an opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of unique products.

  • Design, develop, and test frontend web application and UI components for data processing pipelines, used by next-gen medical devices. This will run on the device itself, and will be one of the primary means for interacting with the hardware.
  • Build a holistic system: there are many cross-cutting opportunities for ownership (image processing, ML, device management, security, and more).
  • Own and develop significant camera features. This historically has been a mix of design and coding along with cross-functional validation and collaboration.
  • Work closely with UX, data science, hardware, system software, and cloud engineers to create highly integrated, novel products.
  • Collaborate with teammates across the Medical Devices Software organization to advance our development practices.

Minimum qualifications:
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience with 3+ years of software development experience.
  • Fluency in one or more frontend languages of choice, like JavaScript.
  • Experience in common frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Experience with full-stack product development.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Proficient understanding of HTML and CSS.
  • Experience working directly with end-users and customers.
  • Familiarity with Redux and Material UI components.
  • Experience with some of the following: web application development, Linux environment, mobile application development, machine learning, imaging processing, and/or security software development.
  • Experience with health data, health informatics, or electronic medical records.
