Borrego is seeking a Sr. Data Analyst to join our growing team!  Are you passionate about renewable energy, addressing the climate crisis, and accelerating the clean energy transformation? We are looking for a savvy Sr Data Analyst to join us as we build an analytics platform that will allow our businesses to answer "what", "when" and "how" as well as "what if".  As a member of this team, you will design, develop, maintain and support our Enterprise Data Warehouse & BI platform using various data & BI tools based on the Google Cloud platform. This position offers a unique opportunity to be a part of a team that creates and drives a data driven culture across Borrego.  We offer a hybrid work environment, allowing you to work remotely 2-3 days a week and from the office 2-3 days a week.

About the Role

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Using data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns to solve the most impactful business problems and unlock new opportunities for insight-driven value creation
  • Using tools and techniques to visualize data in easy-to-understand formats
  • Preparing reports and presenting these to management or stakeholders
  • Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
  • Organizing and transforming information into Borrego’s semantic model
  • Collaborating with account managers, project developers, engineers, and organizational leaders to identify opportunities to improve on data origination from business process, recommend system modifications, and develop policies for data governance
  • Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements
  • Designing and maintaining data systems and databases; this includes fixing coding errors and other data-related problems
  • Creating appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis if necessary
  • Using statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts

 

While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes:

  • We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience in a Sr. Data Analyst role, who has attained a Graduate  or Equivalent degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field
  • At Least 2+ yrs of working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
  • At Least 5+ years experience with Tableau / Looker / PowerBI
  • Ability to break large projects into smaller pieces to meet deadlines and ability to convert ideas into testable hypotheses and/or next steps
  • Demonstrated experience with data projects that combine business acumen and technical expertise to put data at the center of decisions
  • Strong sense of intellectual curiosity balanced with humility, drive and teamwork
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to take ownership of deliverables, and build trust with stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Build data catalog, data dictionary and make data searchable for our stakeholders and users
  • Experience building and optimizing google BigQuery data pipelines, architectures and data sets
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets and big query expertise
  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
  • Knowledge of proper A/B testing practices and statistical experiment design
  • Comfort with programming in Python and/or R
  • Working experience with Salesforce 
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Netsuite, Microsoft Dynamics or Oracle Financials
  • Experience on an Agile Scrum project delivered under Continuous Delivery
  • Excitement about growing along with a fast-paced, dynamic company; comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to build, experiment, and iterate when the path forward is undefined
  • A passion for renewable energy, addressing the climate crisis, and accelerating the clean energy transformation
