Join us for this interactive 60-minute session that will explore the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and skills development within the HR profession.
The speaker will introduce key concepts around AI’s impact on the workplace, including automation, augmentation, and the emergence of new skill sets.
Participants will be invited to reflect on how AI is reshaping talent strategies, learning and development, and workforce planning.
Through a mix of real-world examples, the session will challenge attendees to consider how HR can lead the way in preparing organisations and individuals for a future where human and machine capabilities increasingly intersect.
The goal is to leave participants informed and equipped with ideas to apply in their own practice.
Speakers bio:
Dr Mohammad Islam, BA (Hon’s), MSC, PGCert, PhD, FHEA, CMBE
Dr Mohammad graduated with a first-class honours degree in Business Studies from the University of Wales and gained an MSc in HRM from King’s College London. He holds a postgraduate Certificate in social science research methods and a PhD in management studies from Newcastle University.
The Research topic was: Fourth Industrial Revolution (I4.0) and the Future of Work. Mohammad explored why and how I4.0 technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, Big Data analytics, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and robotics, impact business models, and what role a 'smart HR' (HR analytics) can play in managing such change in organisations.
Dr Mohammad teaches several areas of Business and Management at the University of Sunderland, including digitalisation, AI-augmented HRM, Human-Centred AI, change management, strategic management, ethics and sustainability, cross-cultural management, organisational development and digital learning, research methods, organisational behaviour and leadership, and information systems. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data analytics, Industry 4.0, Augmented HR, Brexit, equality and diversity, and industrial relations.
He frequently publishes articles on digital transformation and augmented HR. His recent research, titled “AI-Augmented HRM: Literature Review and a Proposed Multilevel Framework for Future Research,” is available in the Technological Forecasting and Social Change Journal, a highly ranked academic journal.
He is a UK Higher Education Academy Fellow and a CMBE from the Chartered Association of Business Schools.
