Description

AI & the Psychology of Work: What’s Changing, What’s Challenging, What’s Next

Artificial Intelligence is transforming how we work, hire, assess, and support people—but what does that really mean for the psychology of work?

Join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion with the authors of EWOP in Practice Special Issue on Artificial Intelligence in Work and Organizational Psychology. We’ll explore how AI is being used in employability platforms, HR decision-making, psychological screening, and coaching—and what that means for ethics, trust, and human connection.

Whether you're a work psychologist, HR practitioner, coach, researcher, or just AI-curious, this session will unpack the promise and pitfalls of AI in the workplace, with plenty of room for questions and conversation.

Topics include:

-AI-powered employability tools and relational dynamics

-Algorithmic decision-making and fairness in HR

-GenAI adoption: what HR professionals really think

-Chatbots in psychological screening and assessment

-Human oversight, trust, and the future of AI governance

The panel will be chaired and moderated by EWOP In Practice editors Diana Rus (University of Groningen) and Belgin Okay-Somerville (University of Glasgow).

Speakers:

  • Markus Langer (University of Freiburg, Germany)
  • Roman Soucek (MSH Medical School Hamburg, Germany)
  • Amanda S. Voss (The Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany)
  • Joanna Butler (University of Strathclyde, Scotland & MyEmploy, Scotland)
  • Marna van der Merwe (Academy to Innovate HR, Netherlands)
