An evening for engineers building tools for the legal industry, and for legal professionals inside and outside of the loop to discuss what’s actually happening inside the systems reshaping their practice.
The legal profession is in the middle of its most consequential technology shift yet. The opportunity is real and so are the risks. This evening brings together practitioners working at the frontier of that tension across private practice, public interest, and multilateral institutions to discuss where AI in the legal value chain.
Part 1: Panel Discussion
• Stefan Geirhofer — Of Counsel, Technology Transactions Group, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati
• Kevin Bankston — Senior Advisor on AI Governance, Center for Democracy & Technology; Adjunct Professor, Georgetown Law (AI and Copyright)
• Jeremy Ng — Counsel, AI and Digital Economy, The World Bank
• Moderator: Marshall Maina — Project Finance & AI Legal Counsel
Part 2: The legal AI landscape
What are law firms around the world actually doing with AI right now? Which countries are adopting it and seeing results? Which legal cases in Australia, the UK, and beyond have been shaped by AI use — for better or worse? Which tools are being used, and by which types of firms?
Professor Gomezgil Yaspik will map the global picture before zooming in on the tools themselves. Harvey AI, CoCounsel, Ironclad, and Contract Express will all be on the table, focusing on what each does well, where each breaks down, and how to read a vendor pitch with a critical eye. Every platform covered has been tested through over 100 real-world test cases, run by actual legal professionals, not benchmarks designed by the vendors themselves.
You will leave with
A working understanding of what happens inside AI tools, beyond the marketing language
A map of the current legal AI landscape, with tools named and compared honestly
A clear framework for the build-vs-buy decision
The ability to ask better questions of vendors, partners, and colleagues who want to move fast
No technical background required.
As always, food and drink, engaging conversation, and incredible company will all be provided!
