ABOUT THE LECTURE SERIES

The NYU Tandon School of Engineering Cybersecurity Lecture Series provides an arena for high-level discussion among world-class scholars and practitioners. Sponsored by AIG - the multinational insurance organization – lectures and panel discussions are designed to raise the visibility of risks and issues, including personal privacy. Internationally renowned experts join together to stimulate collaborative thinking, especially among New York’s regional businesses, government agencies, non-profits, academic institutions, media, and the public. Practical and timely, the series also focuses on possible strategies that address the impact of growing risks.

Cyber Lecture 15: AI & Ethics in Cybersecurity

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the cybersecurity landscape, introducing powerful new tools for defense while also raising urgent considerations around ethics, governance, and risk. Ensuring AI is used responsibly to safeguard critical systems and drive innovation is critical at this moment in time, but not guaranteed.

Our keynote speaker, Jeff Schwartz, Vice President of Engineering at Check Point Software, will share industry insights on the intersection of AI and cybersecurity — exploring the opportunities and challenges AI presents for leaders navigating today’s evolving threat environment. Following the keynote, a moderated panel of experts will offer a dynamic discussion on the ethical, technical, and organizational considerations shaping the future of AI in cybersecurity.

Speakers include:

Brandon Reagen, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering and the Center for Cybersecurity at NYU

Julia Stoyanovich – Institute Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, Associate Professor of Data Science, and Director of the Center for Responsible AI at NYU

Wendy Callaghan – Global Head of Data, Digital, and Cyber Legal at AIG

Nick Steele - Chief Information Security Officer at News Corp

TBA - Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC)

A networking reception will follow the panel discussion. We hope you'll join us for an engaging conversation on how AI can be used responsibly to strengthen cybersecurity and mitigate risks
