Description

What to ExpectTim Gordon’s career has repeatedly featured ambushes by new technology. He worked in newspapers at the advent of the Web, the Yellow Pages when Google rose and politics in the age of social media. He has now been working in ML and AI for the last decade and will share some of the lessons that this combination of scar tissue and enthusiasm have taught him.

In this session he will focus on Generative AI (the latest technology that he will put in context) and provide:

  • An update on where the technology now stands - and a perspective on where it goes next (or may not)
  • Some rules of thumb on where and how it can be used inside your organisation, and language to help talk about it with colleagues
  • Insights on the strategic and economic impact on companies and colleagues: opportunity and disruption
  • His experience on how to drive adoption and innovation inside your organisation
  • Where things could go wrong - from cultural change to the risk of hallucinations; tips on planning for these

He will close on a wider perspective

  • What impact will this have on our policies and society?
  • What should you be doing in the face of this change?

Tim’s talk won’t give you all the answers but it will help you be in a better position to ask the right questions.

When: 29 Jan 2025. Time:  7:30 PST / 10:30 ET / 15:30 GMT / 16:30 CET / 23:30 SGT
