Description

Is AI part of the climate solution – or part of the problem?

As artificial intelligence accelerates across every sector, its environmental impact is coming under increasing scrutiny. Data centres, energy demand, water use – the hidden footprint of AI is growing fast. But so is its potential.

From optimising energy systems to improving climate forecasting and operational efficiency, AI could become a powerful tool for sustainability – if used wisely.

This webinar will take a clear-eyed look at both sides of the story, exploring how fast AI is really moving, what it means for emissions and resource use, and where it can genuinely support more sustainable, resilient organisations.

We'll be joined by Pete Clutton-Brock to guide us through the issues and answer your questions. Pete is the founder and CEO of Yottar, a startup building a digital twin of the electricity grid to help asset developers assess grid capacity. Pete has previously worked on applying AI to energy and climate, as the Executive Director of the Centre for AI & Climate, and as the CEO of a consulting firm that advised tech companies on their energy and climate strategies. Pete started his career in government working on energy policy in the Department for Energy & Climate and the Treasury.

We’ll also hear from Stu Dunlop, Sustainability and Impact Lead at MCC / Lord’s, who has generated some valuable insights from putting AI in to bat for sustainability at the Home of Cricket.
