March's Topic: AI, Human Agency, & the Creative Process
Ever since generative AI tools entered the public mainstream, skeptics and anti-AI artivists have argued that artistic work created using AI lacks human agency, vision, and creativity.
How much control do you maintain over the creative process when using AI tools? Where do you draw the line between the steps/decisions you outsource to technology and those you reserve for yourself as the human artist/creator?
To investigate these questions, we’ll look at case study examples from you—the artists and creatives incorporating AI technologies into their creative processes. We’re reserving space for up to three artists/creatives to present in-person and share their AI-assisted process with the group.

Our meetups are a warm, collegial, and inviting space. All backgrounds, disciplines, and levels of experience will be respected and given space to express their perspectives, opinions, and concerns about the current state and future of the arts, AI, and technology.

We’ll be in Apollo on the 1st floor of Capital Factory, which is located inside the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin. Once inside the Omni, inquire at the security desk in the lobby area outside of Capital Factory to direct you to the room Apollo.
Parking:
You can park streetside (metered) or inside the garage under the Omni Hotel. Capital Factory will validate parking in the Omni Garage to the reduced flat rate of $8 if you arrive after 5p and leave before 10p.
Membership Not Required:
Artists and the Age of AI meetups are free and open to the public. All are welcome. You do not need a Capital Factory membership to attend.
