About this event

This event series is open to all girls ages 7-17.

EVENT DETAILS:

ALL 5 workshops will be held for the SAME 1.5 hour duration at the same start time between:

  • 4:00-5:30pm (Pacific Time)
  • 5:00-6:30pm (Mountain Time)
  • 6:00-7:30pm (Central Time)
  • 7:00-8:30pm (Eastern Time)

The following workshop dates are listed below:

  1. Wednesday, August 3rd: Remix music from your favorite artists while learning to code in Python or with blocks. By the end of this session, you will have coded a short song to try out your favorite dance moves!

  2. Wednesday, September 7th: Create your own beats in Soundtrap and remix them with your favorite artists using EarSketch through coding. Learn how to be a real audio engineer and use software from top recording studios!

  3. Wednesday, October 5th: Create your own dance party by coding a song in EarSketch using loops. Then, use block coding to create a dance to your music in Scratch. You may compose the next viral dance!

  4. Wednesday, November 9th: Code your beats for equity. It's time to take your song to the next level and give it a purpose. Create lyrics and remix them with your beats from top recording artists to prepare for the next Your Voice is Power competition!

  5. Wednesday, December 7th: It's time to put those records on... we'll have a live DJ spinning your coded songs during CS Education Week. In this session, you will add some cool effects to your song and submit it to Your Voice is Power for a chance to win Amazon gift cards and $5,000!

STUDENTS WILL NEED:

  • Internet connection
  • Computer - laptop, chromebook, desktop
  • No prior coding knowledge or software downloads required!
