Description

Over 430,000 technology professionals have been laid off since the beginning of 2022, including over 260,000 alone in 2023. Technology executives are reversing their hiring priorities, stressed by rising interest rates, persistent inflation, and consumers reverting to pre-pandemic behavior. The rise of artificial intelligence is further inspiring technology companies to go in different directions, with Google re-organizing 30,000 employees due to AI advancements in selling its popular advertising solutions.

Technology has always been known for it's high salaries, free food, great perks, and promise of generational wealth. Yet, economic disruptions have brought pause for many workers who seek something more stable and wonder whether it's time to move on to other industries.

So what's out there? If you're a technology professional tired of the ups and downs, this webinar is for you. We've assembled a panel of professionals across non-tech industries to answer the question of whether life is better. Our participants include those in law, teaching, construction, and government work.

You'll learn:

  • The myths and the realities of joining these careers, including the benefits and risks you inherit
  • What educational credentials you'll need to break in—and where tech skills do and don't help
  • What opportunities exist in these industries today and how you can take advantage And so much more!

RSVP today and discover the opportunities available to you in these uncertain economic times.

Note that your attendance in this webinar does not establish a working relationship with any of the participants. If they provide their contact information, you can reach out.

  • Grainne Callan is an employment lawyer with Grainne Callan, Esq. She received her law degree from Lincoln Law School, San Jose and was admitted to the California Bar December 2017. She has a passion for employment law because she knows what it's like to work hard, only to be mistreated by unappreciative employers. She personally successfully pursued legal claims against three employers prior to law school, standing up for what is right. Connect with her at https://www.callanlawoffice.com/home
  • Rick Hall is a computer science teacher at Lindale Middle School in Linthicum, Maryland. He has been an educator for over 12 years, passionate about helping children reach their potential. • Cheryl Lee never wanted to become the Librarian that shushed people out of the library. She had visions of turning the library into a learning playground with out-of-the-box programming, robust digital services, and a place where all people are welcome. As Library Services Manager for Contra Costa County Library, she currently oversees nine library locations on the west side of the County. She has worked in city and county entities for over 27 years and absolutely loves her job. As a fangirl of Albert’s Job List and Referrals, she hopes to persuade talented tech workers that worklife outside of tech might be more meaningful and impactful to the community as well as your pocketbook.
