Description

“Data-driven” is in every product manager job description, but are you using it to effectively drive your product strategy forward?

About this event

Sharing data is crucial to the product management process; however, common pitfalls of a well-intentioned data-driven approach include analysis paralysis, drowning in data until there is no point left, data without context, and more. We’ll talk about steps you can take to make sure the story you tell isn’t about tables and numbers but about actually advancing your product strategy.

💡 Learn:

When you craft a story, pretend you only have 2 minutes before your wifi will cut out. Have you made our point? We’ll cover a framework for how. How to resist the urge to dive into all of the data details. That's what Appendixes and Q&A are for. The data is not the outcome. The outcome is the outcome. Data is just a means to an end. Learn how to use data to drive toward your desired outcome without getting buried.

📝 Then

APPLY immediately! You'll be paired in timed 1:1 chats with other PMs, to immediately practice what we learn. Meet other PMs also looking to level-up their storytelling with impactful use of data, and learn while growing your network of other ambitious women in product management.

📍 Meet your Expert:

Jenny Zhao is Sr. Director and Head of Product for Asurion's Digital Services products, including cloud storage and digital security. Asurion is the world leader in tech protection and support.

In addition to championing good product management best practices, she’s fiercely passionate about building diverse, empowered teams and improving diverse representation in tech, especially women.

Prior to Asurion, Jenny led recruiting, operations, and sales teams, specializing in building high-performing teams during high growth periods in distributed markets. Jenny holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles, which is what fueled her love for learning about human perspectives, behaviors, and psychology. She was also pre-med, but that clearly did not pan out.

Jenny lives with her spouse and adorable dog, Ruthie, in Nashville, Tennessee. She enjoys eating, traveling, and taking pictures in her spare time.

📍 Meet your Moderator:

Kaelin Burns has over 10 years of experience working in product and tech, with an emphasis on B2B and internal innovation. She is currently the VP of Product at Artium, a software development consultancy, where she has helped brands such as Lionsgate, Grailed, Aperture, and Suited build extraordinary software, adopt best practices, and create a culture of collaboration.

Her passion for problem-solving, enthusiasm for learning, and desire for deep collaboration has served her well while building products at startups, growth-stage, and enterprise companies. Her lightweight and holistic approach to product development is born out of a lit major’s quest for clarity in communication, a love of Extreme Programming (XP) via DevBootcamp, and the belief that the best thing about technology is that there is always so much to learn.

About Product Blenders:

In our Product Blender series, Hosts and guests offer key tactics, techniques or actionable insights in a brief kickoff session. Zero fluff, no 'housekeeping' filler, no drawn out intros.

Speed Sessions are followed by timed paired 1:1 chats to practice or discuss with other PM peers. After each match, you'll have the option to swap contacts with a click.

Blenders will close with a group debrief and Speaker Q&A - you’ll be able to get feedback on your 1:1 practice. Each event covers new skills and topics - we hope to see you at more than one!
