Description

Satellites, aerial flyovers, and on-the-ground measurements have revealed the staggering scale and frequency of methane emissions. Meanwhile new modeling approaches can estimate impacts of methane emissions on air quality and human health risks. How can society leverage this emerging research to lower climate-warming emissions? And how can strategies to cut methane emissions be leveraged to protect public health?

This panel will bring together leaders in science, technology, philanthropy, and journalism to discuss how new data on methane super emitters is evolving scientific understanding and informing new mitigation solutions.

Attendees will gain insight into:

- What the latest data tells us about methane emissions

  • The connection between methane, air quality, and public health

  • What’s needed to move beyond transparency to accountability and action

Speakers:

  • Moderator: Emily Pontecorvo, Founding Staff Writer, Heatmap News

  • Panelist: Seth B.C. Shonkoff, PhD, MPH, Executive Director of PSE Healthy Energy

  • Panelist: Daniel Bon, PhD, Program Manager, Energy and Public Health at Carbon Mapper

  • Panelist: Marcelo Mena, PhD, CEO of Global Methane Hub

This is an in-person event. Attendees will receive the exact address after their RSVP is confirmed. Light drinks and snacks will be provided. Attendees are invited to stay and mingle after the panel.
