Girls in Tech!

Becki will show you how The Dunstone Trust has worked with the Fulwood Academy in Preston to support 40 girls aged between 13-15 to design, develop and market an app. Once completed, the group will present to a panel of experts Dragon's Den style.

TalkTalk, Google & BooHoo are already supporting, however this event will help you understand how your organisation can also get involved in the initiative. The aim is to inspire more girls to get into tech jobs - because it’s simply not enough at the moment. This project is about showing them that digital and tech jobs don’t need you to be a computer programmer or a ‘hacker’ - digital is for everyone. The project is running for 9 months with the girls vising various businesses to understand more about digital businesses and how tech impacts on people’s lives and careers.

Could your organisation host the girls?

The Dunstone Trust would love for you to be able to host the 40 girls at your business for a couple of hours, maybe give them a tour, talk to them about how the business is ‘digital’ and what that means to staff and customers. And what careers are available in that industry. It would be great for our girls to see how women have succeeded in your business!
