I. Welcome and Introductions (10 minutes)

- Facilitator: Briefly introduce yourself and your motivation for reviving the group.
II. Setting the Stage: Green Software Foundation (10 minutes)
- Purpose: Reiterate the mission of the Green Software Foundation and the purpose of the Houston Chapter.
- Activity: Briefly present the core mission: building a trusted ecosystem of people, standards, tooling, and best practices for creating green software, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions associated with software.
- Facilitator: Explain the importance of a local chapter and its potential impact in the Houston tech community.
III. Individual Initiatives and Challenges (20 minutes)
- Purpose: Understand what green software initiatives people are already taking and the obstacles they are facing.
- Activity: Go around the room, allowing each person 1-2 minutes to share:
- One green software initiative they are currently involved with or interested in.
- One obstacle or challenge they face in their green software journey.
- Facilitator: Encourage everyone to participate and actively listen. Consider using a round-robin approach to ensure everyone gets a chance to speak.
IV. Group Collaboration and Support (15 minutes)
- Purpose: Brainstorm ways the group can help each other overcome obstacles and foster collaboration.
- Activity: Facilitate an open discussion using questions like:
- "Based on what we've heard, how can we leverage the collective knowledge and experience in this room to address common obstacles?"
- "Are there specific resources, skills, or connections that someone here could offer to help others?"
- Facilitator: Actively moderate, summarize key ideas, and connect individuals where there's potential for mutual support.
V. Planning Future Meetings and Next Steps (10 minutes)
- Purpose: Decide on the frequency, format, and potential topics for future meetings.
- Activity: Discuss:
- Preferred meeting frequency (e.g., monthly, quarterly).
- Potential future topics or guest speakers (e.g., deep dive into the SCI Specification, case studies, specific technologies).
- A volunteer to help coordinate the next meeting or future activities.
- Set a date and time for the next meeting.
VI. Wrap-Up and Thank You (5 minutes)
- Purpose: Briefly summarize the meeting and reinforce the positive energy and collaborative spirit.
- Activity: Quick recap of key takeaways and agreed-upon next steps.
- Facilitator: Thank everyone for their attendance and participation, emphasizing the importance of their involvement in revitalizing the Houston Green Software Foundation community.
