This sub-theme supports local actions that complement national initiatives aimed at developing a comprehensive rural broadband infrastructure but does not cover most broadband infrastructure, as this is covered under the National Broadband Plan. Actions that may be covered include basic ICT training to priority groups, skills development for installing broadband and feasibility studies in relation to community broadband. Other areas that may be considered, include but are not limited to, proposals that explore new ways of capitalising on digital technologies at community and/or enterprise level, development of smart applications and services for rural communities, investment in new digital technologies that positively impact on climate change and technical assistance to explore diversity of uses of digital connectivity and its application. Funding is available for captial, A&D and training projects

This is a time limited targeted call for applications and those interested in applying for funding must submit an expression of interest before Friday October 24th 2025. This Expression of Interest (EOI)will be used to determine project eligibility in principle. Those successful at EOI stage will be eligible to submit a full application which is due Friday February 13th 2026.
