The National Disability AI & Enabling Technology Summit is a free national virtual conference dedicated to helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other disabilities maximize the benefits of artificial intelligence and enabling technology while minimizing the risks. The Summit is fully virtual, making it accessible to participants nationwide.
The Summit is designed for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, family members, direct support professionals, educators, service providers, advocates, policymakers, researchers, technology developers, and disability leaders. The Summit focuses on practical ways AI and enabling technology can improve everyday life while addressing accessibility, ethics, privacy, bias, misinformation, and safety. Participants will leave with practical strategies, real-world demonstrations, trusted resources, and new connections they can immediately use to maximize the benefits of AI while avoiding potential risks.
Artificial intelligence has the potential to become one of the most important enabling technologies ever developed for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other disabilities. Used responsibly, it can increase independence, communication, employment, education, and self-determination. At the same time, it raises important questions about accessibility, ethics, privacy, bias, misinformation, safety, and the potential for exploitation. Our goal is to help the disability community navigate both the promise and the challenges.

The Summit builds on more than three years of successful virtual enabling technology and AI initiatives in partnership with Developmental Disabilities Councils, state agencies, and disability organizations in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Georgia, North Dakota, and Colorado. Together, these initiatives have served more than 2,500 participants. The National Disability AI & Enabling Technology Virtual Summit expands this successful model to a national audience.
