Description

Dive into how maps and tech rules are shaping our world and what’s next at the crossroads of geospatial data and policy.

Join us for an exclusive webinar featuring Denise McKenzie, a leading voice in digital governance, data ethics, and the responsible use of location data.

In a world where location data is increasingly becoming a form of currency and power, how do we ensure our practices remain transparent, ethical, and responsible?

As someone who believes the best way to solve problems is through action, Denise will demonstrate how we can build a better future of location data sharing through two key examples that are already solving these challenges:

PLACE - a Data Trust model built to restore government data sovereignty while unlocking ethical and responsible use of street level and aerial imagery for users across the world

Common Space - a new non-profit seeking to launch a Humanitarian and Development dedicated satellite constellation who has openly co-created their governance structure with the community, partners and users of their data

As part of the Open Data Institute’s Data Ethics Professional webinar series, we are thrilled to welcome Denise McKenzie, an international consultant, advisor, and strategic leader with over 25 years of experience across government, nonprofits, and public-private tech partnerships.

As an ODI-certified Data Ethics Professional and co-author of the groundbreaking Locus Charter, Denise has spent her career advocating for more equitable access to data and exploring how technology can best serve the public good.

Who Should Attend? Data professionals, policy makers, geospatial analysts, and anyone interested in digital governance, privacy, and building more equitable data ecosystems.
