From Journal Design to Real Possibilities

This online progression workshop is designed especially for young people, aged 10 to 18 who have taken part in Empower Girls with Tech, as well as other young creatives who would like to take their digital design skills further.

Participants will explore the exciting journey of turning a journal created in Canva into a real physical product - from creating a professional mock-up to discovering how print-on-demand platforms such as Lulu and Blurb can bring their designs to life.

During the session, young participants will learn how to:

• Create simple and eye-catching mock-ups to showcase their journal
• Explore simple ideas around product presentation, branding and pricing
• Explore how platforms such as Lulu and Blurb can print journals and notebooks
• Understand the different ways a journal could be produced, including paperback, hardcover and other formats
• Think about who their journal is designed for and what would make someone want to buy it
• See how their creative tech skills could develop into future enterprise opportunities.

This is an important next step for previous Empower Girls with Tech participants. The session is about opening up possibilities, building confidence and helping young people recognise that their digital creativity can have value beyond the classroom.
