⭐️ Speakers

Liza Knipscher is a medical app developer at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Biomedical Visualization. At Barrow, she creates educational software for neurosurgeons-in-training. In her free time, she makes extremely silly virtual reality games, reads a ton of books, and hangs out with her two goofy greyhounds, Hadron and Tex.

Elliot Swart is currently the Chief Architect at Digital Diagnostics, an artificial intelligence-based healthcare company that helps people detect an eye disease called diabetic retinopathy. He started his career in healthcare tech one semester before graduating from Yale, when he dropped out to co-found a skin cancer diagnostics company called 3Derm Systems. Before that, he spent a lot of time building robots for science and fun. As a Forbes 30 under 30 recipient, Elliot has two months to go before he turns 30 and can't talk about it anymore.

Meri Martinez is a biomedical engineer in the medical device industry. She has experience in the startup industry and just recently became a Regulatory Affairs consultant. She is also the founder of The BME Life, a social media platform dedicated to educating and empowering people to purpose a career in BME or any other related discipline.

Abigayle Peterson is a 19 y/o Founder and CEO of Magnify Wellness, a nonprofit whose mission is to ensure equal access to mental health support through outreach programs and technology. As a passionate mental health advocate, storyteller, and lover of tech, she has been featured on 30+ platforms through her speaking engagements. She also uses her experience as a published writer, mentor + mentee, and undergraduate AI researcher to help underrepresented groups in STEM find their voice in STEM and beyond.

Victor Hanson-Smith, PhD: Head of Computational Biology at Verge Genomics, leads a world-class team of computational biologists to discover new drugs for neurodegenerative diseases, including ALS and Parkinson's Disease. His work combines a wide range of methods, including genomics, machine learning, and supercomputing. Victor completed his PhD in Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon in 2011, and continued his research into genome evolution as a post-doctoral research position at University of California San Francisco. In 2016, Victor joined Verge Genomics as one of the first employees, and has spent the last five years building their drug discovery platform.
