Background and Rationale

Technology has transformed societies across the globe, creating opportunities for connection, creativity, community and peacebuilding. Yet it has also enabled harmful practices, including technology-facilitated human trafficking—ranging from online recruitment and exploitation to the spread of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). At the same time, innovations in Artificial Intelligence (AI) present both risks and opportunities: AI can perpetuate harm if misused, but it can also be a powerful tool for prevention, ethical storytelling, cultural expression, and peacebuilding through community development which is the key to achieve peace.

This event seeks to bring together policymakers, AI leaders, peacebuilders, civil society actors, survivor advocates, and youth voices to discuss both the threats and opportunities at the nexus of technology, trafficking, community and peacebuilding.

The high level event is moderated by Tatiana Kotlyarenko member of the Human Trafficking Working Group of G20 Interfaith Forum/Praeveni
