TechSwitch and Women Returners information sharing and networking event

Description

TechSwitch is partnering with Women Returners to co-host a Career Returners event aimed at introducing returning professionals to the TechSwitch programme, a comprehensive 12-week bootcamp training programme designed to support, train and develop talent into full-stack developers and long-term careers in technology.

We’re also keen to showcase our programme to potential hiring partners who are looking to recruit commercially ready full-stack developers.

Who is this event for?

  • On a career break, and looking to return to work in a way that fits around your life.
  • Working in another sector and wanting a career change, perhaps for a better work-life balance or a more challenging role or both!

About TechSwitch

At TechSwitch we are passionate about closing the diversity gap and tackling the skills shortage within the UK tech sector. There are numerous programmes offering school- and university-leavers accessible, affordable ways into tech but things are very different for people wishing to enter or re-enter tech later in their careers.

Our mission is to make careers in tech accessible to everyone, so the course is free and anyone can apply regardless of their background, age, employment history or level of education.

TechSwitch gives businesses access to an untapped talent pool and has successfully placed bootcamp graduates into a range of organisations, from start-ups to large enterprises.

Supporting returners into Tech careers

If you’re looking to return to or retrain into a career in technology, TechSwitch would love to hear from you.

On our 12-week bootcampwhich has been developed by Softwire, a leading digital and design consultancy, you will be trained by a team of people who are at the cutting edge of the tech sector.

Softwire has built platforms that stream Glastonbury headliners, shaped key government cloud computing roadmaps, worked with DeepMind and Moorfields Eye Hospital to use artificial intelligence to diagnose sight-threatening eye diseases, and more…

TechSwitch knows that software development isn’t just about languages. Our training provides the foundations to ensure that graduates are able to apply their skills to any languages, tools, and frameworks in the future.

Candidates will also be taught best-practice techniques to ensure you immediately fit right into any development team. After the bootcamp, gradiates progress to embark on a placement with one of TechSwitch’s hiring partners.

About the Event

Join TechSwitch for a morning of information gathering, support and networking.

Following an overview of the TechSwitch programme, their bootcamp graduates will talk about their ‘TechSwitch’ journey and how it has supported them to forge new and exciting career paths

.At the end of the event, benefit from a return-to-work workshop delivered by Women Returners and have the opportunity to network with TechSwitch employees and recent bootcamp graduates.

Here is what a couple of recent graduates had to say:

“The bootcamp was a life-changing experience for me, it provided the opportunity to turn an interest into a career. Despite having little prior coding experience, I was fully supported throughout the course which covered multiple aspects of software development.”

“I was not new to coding but was returning to it after a long break. The course is intense and focuses on projects from day one, using all the latest industry processes and standards. In no time, it gave me the confidence to take a stack of technologies, put them together and create complex applications.”

Here’s what a couple of TechSwitch’s hiring partners had to say:

“We spoke to five people who would shortly be finishing the programme, and I was struck by the high calibre of all the individuals. The standard overall was much better than we’d seen in the wider market. While we knew there would be some initial hand-holding, each of the TechSwitch candidates brought additional skills and perspectives to the table: one had been a doctor, another a materials scientist, and a third had managed an international IT team. We would genuinely have been happy hiring any of them. One of our objectives when hiring for this role was to ensure that we had a diverse range of candidates and it was great to see that delivered.”

“Novata has worked with TechSwitch for over a year and we have been consistently impressed by the quality of talent put forward. We find that the engineers coming out of the programme are particularly well-rounded and mature given their previous experience in different roles – they bring with them new perspectives and ways of working that help to drive productivity in our teams. Both the participants on the programme and those running TechSwitch have always been a pleasure to work with.”

Following your registration TechSwitch will be in touch to confirm your place at the event and send you the joining instructions.
