Description

Hera Hub DC, in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), is excited to host an open and candid discussion on how social media and other digital technologies affect women's mental health.

Our panel includes these experts:

Dr. Christina Borba - Director, NIMH Office for Disparities Research and Workforce Diversity

Lindsay Lieberman, Esq. - Attorney and Legal Consultant combating sexual misconduct, sex crimes, and cyber sexual abuse

Dr. Patricia (Patty) Mechael - co-founder and CEO at health.enabled, a global non-profit advancing whole person health through equity-focused technology in everyday life, digital health, and AI.

Technology is a powerful force in today’s world, shaping how we connect, work, and live. For women, it can be both a source of empowerment and a challenge to mental well-being.

We'll start by exploring what current research is revealing about women's mental health and the role digital technology plays, both positively and negatively.

We will engage in a fishbowl discussion format, allowing other experts from the audience to join the conversation, share insights, and contribute their expertise. This inclusive approach ensures a dynamic, interactive experience where everyone has the opportunity to learn, share, and grow.

While many of us have stories about the negative impacts of technology—stress, isolation, and unrealistic societal pressures—there’s also a positive side. Technology offers tools and resources that can help us improve our mental health, find support, and build stronger communities.

This will be an open and supportive space for women to reflect on their relationship with technology and discover ways to use it to enhance their mental well-being.

Agenda:

6:30 - 6:45 pm - Registration and networking

6:45 - 7:00 pm - Welcome and introductions

7:00 - 8:15 pm - Panel/Fishbowl Discussion

8:15 - 8:30 pm - Wrap-up and Networking

Whether you’ve faced challenges or found strength through digital platforms, this event is for you. We hope you will bring a family member, friend or colleague that could benefit from the discussion by purchasing a buddy ticket.

Wine, non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers will be served.
