Tools of the Tech

Description

To reintroduce the learners to their computers, not as an accessory, but as the most important tool in the STEM entrepreneurs toolbox.

Learners will understand their computers, inside and out. They will understand how the applications that software developers use differ from the applications non-developers use. They will never be afraid of their computer again, and will be able to select and configure a computer to meet their needs.

There will be a 30 minute Q&A at the end of the session where participants are welcome to troubleshoot their problems with workshop facilitator Lori Olsen.

All backgrounds and skill levels are welcome! Some knowledge of computers is required, but if you can send an email or use a web browser, you're good to go!

Meet Your Presenter: Lori Olsen, The WNDX Group Inc.

Lori got her start in software straight out of school, with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Calgary, working in the Calgary oil patch. Since then, she has developed software solutions for the health, finance, and entertainment industries, as well as software tools used to boost the productivity of other software developers.

In her copious amounts of free time Lori volunteers as a local chapter lead (and instructor and mentor) with the Ladies Learning Code, a non-profit devoted increasing digital literacy by teaching coding and technical skills in a hands-on, social and collaborative way.
