Are you interested in improving your wellbeing and learning what tech supports wellness?

This event offers a holistic approach to understanding and suporting wellbeing for those working in the tech sector and beyond, as well as those not currently in employment. It is intended to be informative and relevant for everyone, offering a broad and insightful perspective on something that impacts so many.

The morning of this event (all elements except the workshops) are available to view by booking a ticket on this livestream page.

Taking part in the livestream will allow you to see performances, talks and panels that will engage, inspire and empower you to support and better understand your wellbeing. We hope this day will breakdown stigma surrounding mental health, illuminate how deeply connected mental and physical wellbeing are, and indiecate some ways to support wellbeing - including how tech can support wellness.

  • Sir Tim Smit (co-founder of the Eden Project)
  • Kellie Gilmour (therapist, wellbeing adviser, sleep mentor and meditation tutor)

Panels

  • Exploring why minority communities and those living in poverty are disproportionally impacted by ill health
  • How technology creates challenges for wellbeing but the ways in which it can also support it

Workshops (not included in Livestream)

  • Justin Wiggans (Internal Garden, sound artist) – using wearable technology to translate plant vibrations into a highly immersive sensory experience supportive of wellbeing (as well as potentially changing our perceptions of plants)
  • Lucy Cox (Academe, award-winning business and confidence coach) - social media/comparison culture and how this impacts our sense of self
  • Real Ideas - Immerse Yourself in Nature: Learn the basics of 360-degree filmmaking using InstaX2 cameras! Film, edit and view your content in the wonderful world of VR. Be instantly transported into peaceful, natural environments from anywhere, easily providing a tranquil escape from the busyness of day-to-day life.
  • Ross Jackson-Hicks (Man Down) – discussing the unique challenges which face men in relation to wellbeing
  • Remote working – considering how the isolation of remote working can impact wellbeing.

Funding Statement

Digital Futures is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, a central pillar of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda providing £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
