Description

Join Dr James Leighs, Head of Clinical Scientific Computing, University College London Hospital.

Hear how physics and computer science come together to tackle real-world problems in healthcare. James has worked on a variety of projects including safe and expedited deployment of AI research for predicting the decisions made by an Upper GI MDT, developing an iPhone app for rapid calculation of drug doses for paediatric intensive care, and automating advanced analysis of neuroimaging data to produce clinical reports assisting in the diagnosis of dementia.

James has recently joined UCLH and now leads a team of clinical and healthcare scientists and IT analysts with a passion for computing, data, and improving healthcare through innovation and research. This is an exciting time for CSC and our team is evolving to meet the growing demand for digital and data-driven healthcare, locally and nationally, working closely with clinical and technical stakeholders to develop and deliver a full range of high-quality scientific computing services. This includes expanding our research support and delivery as we grow our programming and data science capabilities. In addition, we currently support a wide range of areas, from bespoke clinical systems and infrastructure to regulated medical device software, with a growing emphasis on AI & data science, interoperability, and automation.
