Systems Engineer Save

Reporting to the Vice President of Business Technology, the Systems Engineer (or Senior Systems Engineer, depending upon experience) will be responsible for the design, implementation, administration and support of computer systems that are located on premises and in the cloud. The ideal candidate must be equipped and able to work in a dynamic and rapidly expanding environment.

This is a full-time position based in Simons Foundation’s offices in New York City.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Configure, deploy, manage, and maintain endpoint devices (Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs, Windows PCs) using management tools (e.g., Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, etc.).

• Design, deploy, and manage server infrastructure running on Microsoft Windows and Linux.

• Evaluate, implement, and manage a wide scope of cloud applications and security tools.

• Manage and troubleshoot email-related issues 

• Perform system and network troubleshooting

• Lead or participate in multiple projects in accordance with company goals.

• Provide guidance and assistance to the IT support team on escalated requests and contact vendors for support as necessary.

• Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Requirements

• At least 4+ years’ experience in a mixed Microsoft / Macintosh / Linux environment 

• Demonstrated understanding of systems and network protocols (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, SMTP, etc.)

• Experience with Jamf Pro or similar MDM solutions

• Familiarity with endpoint and cloud apps security tools (e.g., SentinelOne, Cisco Umbrella, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Proofpoint, etc.)

• Experience with Identity and Access Management

• Proven experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) 

• Flexible, friendly, and willing to find reasonable solutions

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with implementing and supporting virtualization

• Experience with supporting zero-touch deployment

• Experience with software packaging and deployment and relevant automation

• Experience with email security

• Advanced knowledge of macOS and other operating systems

• Familiarity with Git and GitHub

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• The full-time annual compensation range for the Systems Engineer level is $105,000 – $120,000, depending on experience.

• The full-time annual compensation range for the Senior Systems Engineer level is $120,000 – $150,000, depending on experience.
