The Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) oversees all Citywide technology, privacy, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and telecommunications to ensure the security of, and enhance, City operations and service delivery to New York City's residents, businesses, employees, and visitors. This is a night shift position.
The successful candidate will serve as a Systems Engineer reporting to the Infrastructure Management Division. The responsibilities for this position are but not limited to:
- Keep Supervisors & Managers aware of existing or potential problems in a timely manner;
- Interact professionally with users, peers & vendors;
- Provide Windows Server support for both physical and virtual windows servers;
- Configure and administer Windows Servers from Windows Server 2016/2019/2022;Provide technical support, troubleshooting, diagnosis and problem resolution and perform Windows Server maintenance;
- Provide 24/7 support to resolve complex technical operational problems;
- Perform Windows Systems Administration;
- Troubleshoot and resolve OS, disk space and memory issues;
- Work on assigned tickets including incidents and requests; create appropriate changes for any modification, upgrades etc on servers;
- Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned;
- Manage and maintain Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop environments;
- Provide in-person and remote desktop support to end users;
- Resolve complex technical operational problems;
- Serve as a Technical resource for the Enterprise Windows Operations team.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area, and four years of satisfactory fulltime experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, or administrative duties in a voice and/or data telecommunications or closely related electronics planning, management, and/or service organization, one year of which must have been in a highly specialized capacity and 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity or in the supervision of staff performing work in the voice and/or data telecommunications field; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or in a pertinent, scientific, technical, electronic or related area and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of the specialized experience as described in "1" above and must possess the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
The preferred candidate should possess the following: - Certification preferred – VMware VCP, Citrix CCP-V or CCAA, Microsoft MCSA - 5 years’ experience with configuring & administering virtual server environment - 5 years’ experience with configuring & administering Citrix XenApp - 5 years’ experience with Citrix products including XenApp,XenDesktop & XenServer - Experience working in and using VMware environments and products - Expert knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 with Failover Clustering & Terminal Server features - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues on all tiers - Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and organization skills - Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines - Experience in managing DNS, DHCP, Remote Desktop Session Host, DFS, and Microsoft Failover Clustering.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
