This role serves as the lead in Azure design and build. Working with a team of administrators, developers, and application product owners who support and develop the platforms/applications across Pattern.
The Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer must have experience and foundational knowledge of Azure services, well-architected frameworks, landing zones, support processes as well as leading design efforts on new Cloud and/or Infrastructure projects related to Azure or integrations therein. This position will work closely with implementation partners, consultants, business partners, and internal and external technical teams to understand the business capability objective and oversee the design and build of our Cloud footprint. The role also partners and supports the other Enterprise Technology (ET) teams from Cybersecurity, Cloud, Infrastructure, Data, Integrations and Analytics. Experience leading and building teams that execute Cloud implementations, migrations, and optimization of existing resources and associated costs. Ability to effectively track and report on several concurrent projects is a must, as is the ability to foster a partnership with business owners and stakeholders. Understanding and planning for resourcing needs for sustainment and projects for today and future is an important management accountability. The Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer will participate and have a critical expert influence on our current cloud migration project, as well as the future roadmap of Pattern’s cloud footprint in conjunction with guidance and direction from the Sr. Manager of Data Platform. The end value is to create valued trusted partnership with Pattern’s Enterprise Technology team and other departments across the organization, providing rapid-response support and strategic services as Pattern ramps up cloud adoption efforts around the business.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain Azure resources to support enterprise workloads (30% of time)
- Develop and maintain Azure policies to support modern Azure architecture (30% of time)
- Engage with stakeholders to understand their workloads (10% of time)
- Optimize Azure platform, services, resources, design, and management (10% of time)
- Play a key role in the tenant migration project (20% of time)
- Functionally manage integrations between systems to ensure accurate and efficient transfer of data where applicable.
- Provide both structured and ad hoc training and troubleshooting assistance for global end users, acting as a steward for system integrity and maintaining up-to-date process guides and documentation. Ensure optimal systems adoption from time of initial rollout into operational day to day use.
- Maintain effective internal controls around systems operations, including appropriate provisioning of user access to the systems.
- Manage testing suites and coordinate all global testing required for recurring system upgrades as well as upgrades of integrated solutions.
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
Educational and Work Experience
- 5-7+ years work, specific to data management and engineering
- S. in computer science, engineering, or similar technical field
- Experience with migrate existing workloads from local data centers to the Azure cloud.
- Develop new applications that run in the cloud
- Rebuild existing applications to run in the cloud
- Store and protect business data in the cloud
- Optimize cloud architectures to run apps + workloads both cost-effectively and resource-efficiently
- Design workloads for high availability and reliability
- Architect Azure cloud infrastructures for workload scalability
- Establish common policies and procedures to configure and secure cloud data and apps.
- Manage and optimize Azure cloud costs and utilization
- Implement specialized projects in the cloud
- Proven track record of excellent communication and cooperation with varied stakeholders
- Strong understanding of security and governance principles

- A track record of delivering high-quality, on-time projects across multiple stakeholders, functions, and lines of business.
The expected starting pay range for this role is $102,000 - $128,121 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
