Senior Manager, Technology
Position Overview:
In this role, you manage and create our secure and functional technology infrastructure, including ensuring our offices are technologically accessible and educating staff about how to leverage technology in their work. You will manage a team of internal and external technical professionals to implement an organization-wide technology strategy.
You will lead the implementation of the organization’s technology operations. You will ensure that the organization has the technology tools, resources, and training needed to work efficiently and safely in pursuit of our mission to advance the use of land policy as a solution to economic, social, and environmental challenges. The Senior Technology Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Cambridge, MA.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop long-range technology direction and strategy that reflects identified institutional needs and opportunities through close collaboration with COO and senior leadership.
- Develop and implement a technology workplan that includes both routine technology operations and new technology projects.
- Manage a team of technology professionals, including external vendors, to ensure the workplan is well executed.
- Establish and maintain clear and well-documented standard operating procedures, including a business continuity plan.
- Manage daily operations to ensure the usability, performance, and security of the organization's technology infrastructure, including cloud services and AV.
- Develop and maintain relationships to ensure technology needs are appropriately supported.
- Implement and oversee robust cybersecurity measures to protect the organization's data and technology assets.
- Design and implement an education plan for staff to ensure appropriate and maximum use of existing technology tools and platforms.
- Proactively review and assessment of our tech stack to approach emerging trends and advances.
- Maintain compliance with local, federal, and international security requirements.
- Develop and manage department budget.
- Convene and lead cross-institute working groups on key technology issues as needed.
Qualifications
What You Will Need

7-10 years relevant experience in technology management, information systems, or similar fields.

3-5+ years Azure and Microsoft 365 management experience.

Experience managing day-to-day technology operations for an organization with multiple locations.

Ability to be in-person, in-office, full-time based upon business needs.

Demonstrated experience with personnel and budget management.

Strong planning and execution skills.

Skill communicating complex technology concepts to non-technical audience.

Expertise with a project management approach like Agile is beneficial.
