The Role
The Honnold Foundation is seeking a Data and Evaluation Manager to streamline and oversee internal data management across the organization. This is a pivotal moment to join our team as we anticipate continued growth over the coming years. We are looking for a proactive professional with strong organizational and analytical skills who can help us manage an influx of data, derive actionable insights, and support informed decision-making. Working closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Director, this role will be instrumental in developing and scaling data management systems that will position the organization for sustainable growth.
The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented and innovative professional, skilled at organizing and managing diverse data streams to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and utility. They excel at designing and scaling systems to meet organizational needs while using data insights to guide strategic initiatives and support operational excellence. Adept at translating data into clear, actionable information, they effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders, including grantee partners and internal staff and Board members. With a strong focus on data management and a deep understanding of the nonprofit sector, the ideal candidate brings valuable experience in grant-making, operations, and development processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
DATA MANAGEMENT
- Manages identification and implementation of data automation and process improvements across all platforms
- Responsible for timely and accurate data entry across internal databases, including:
- Donor donation and correspondence records
- Grantee Partner records (Salesforce, Submittable, and GSuite)
- Communications records, including photo libraries and donor communications reports
- Utilize Salesforce to track and update grant partner and donor interactions and records
- Manage grantee wire transfer information, payment receipts, and future payment timelines
DATA ANALYSIS, LEARNING AND EVALUATION
- Under the direction of the Executive and Deputy Director, manage optimization of the functionality and utility of data management platforms to support the organization’s funding, knowledge management, learning, and evaluation
- Support grantmaking and fundraising strategies by aggregating and analyzing data for impact reports, evaluations, and case studies
- Partner with the Development and Fundraising team to aggregate and analyze data to optimize development efforts
- Collaborate with the Operations and Finance Manager in developing and reporting on annual budgets and organizational audits
- Build staff and Board capacity on data analysis and management
- Other duties as assigned
GRANTS MANAGEMENT AND ASSISTANCE
- Lead the preparation and management of grant documentation, including grant applications, award letters, onboarding materials, and payment records
- Monitor and manage grant reports throughout the grant lifecycle, working with the program team to ensure compliance and timely submission of required documentation
- Collaborate with other staff members to facilitate accurate tracking of grant funds and ensure grants align with and are reflected in fiscal year budgets
QUALIFICATIONS
We recognize that there is a spectrum of lived and professional experience that will set candidates up for success in this role. While no one candidate will have every expertise outlined in the position description, ideal candidates will display the following professional and personal qualities, skills, and characteristics:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience in grants management, operations, or other relevant fields in a non-profit, philanthropic, or education setting, or equivalent combination
- Proven experience in analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and effectively translating insights into actionable information to demonstrate impact and guide decision-making
- Demonstrated commitment to HF’s mission and global environmental justice via past work and/or volunteer experience
- Experience working with Grants Management software and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Salesforce NPSP
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills, time manager and a fastidious attention to detail
- Highly motivated, self-starting, and results-driven approach
- Professional Spanish fluency is preferred
SALARY AND LOCATION
The salary range for this position starts at $75,000 with the exact salary depending on qualifications and experience. The Honnold Foundation also offers industry-leading benefits, including a four day work week, a generous and flexible vacation policy, a professional development stipend, a Work from Anywhere allowance, payment of 100% of medical and dental insurance, employee wellness stipend, and retirement matching up to 5%.
HF operates as a fully remote work environment, with occasional required in-person team meetings, retreats, and events. Office hours are approximately 9am - 5pm Pacific Time. Employees not based in the Pacific Time zone may flex their hours but may be required to work outside their regular office hours to attend meetings and other events. Travel is a part of many positions at HF. The Data and Evaluation Manager can expect to travel domestically 1-2 times a year. Unfortunately, our team cannot provide visa sponsorship at this time.
