Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field; two years of experience in research, analysis, and local government work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data, and prepare data for studies, reports, and make recommendations to a Board appointed Committee, County Administrator, Board of Supervisors, Department Directors, and residents. Ability to provide guidance and direction in developing strategic goals and objectives. 

Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview.  Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

 

Duties

Under general supervision, this position provides professional staff support and conducts research and analysis of information for a ten-member Board-appointed committee (Committee on the Future). Performs work of considerable difficulty to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency and to enhance the long-range planning of the County; assists with special projects. Performs other work as required.

This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.

 

Shift

28 hours/week; Monday - Friday; exact hours to be determined at a later date
