Requirements
What you’ll do:
- Create user guides, manuals, system documentation, and help content for internal or customer-facing applications
- Conduct hands-on testing of applications to ensure documentation accuracy and the ability to support quality assurance activities as needed
- Build product documentation from the ground up, writing and maintaining technical documentation for how applications function and how reports are generated and interpreted
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to understand application workflows and system architecture
- Test applications independently to validate functionality, workflows, and outputs before documenting
- Identify and document gaps in current documentation; proactively improve or create new materials
- Develop and maintain version-controlled documentation repositories
- Create visual aids such as process diagrams, screenshots, and annotated visuals to support clarity
- Establish and meet clear deliverables and timelines for documentation projects
- Serve as a QA backup by performing basic functional testing, regression testing, and verifying bug fixes
- Log and track bugs or usability issues encountered during testing with the Product Managers on staff
- Help ensure that documentation aligns with compliance, accessibility, and internal standards
What we’re looking for
- At least three years of experience working as a content designer using plain language a complex technical environments, able to create clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for internal applications
- Understanding of web and mobile user interface design best practices
- Relentlessly curious mindset, never satisfied with easy answers
- Someone who is highly resourceful, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Ability to think strategically around trade-offs and short-term vs. long-term benefits
- Ability to build and form strong relationships with the internal team and external partners

- Make complex content approachable through plain language and excellent information architectures

- Proven record of balancing concurrent tasks, meeting deadlines, and delivering quality results
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance

The annual salary for this position is: $85,000 - $100,000 / year
