Overview

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the development, improvement, and scaling of SkillUp’s digital products, including our career navigation platform and AI-enabled tools. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment, is deeply user-obsessed, and can translate field insights into intuitive and impactful product experiences. You will work closely with the SVP of Product and lead our contracted offshore engineering team, ensuring that SkillUp delivers high-quality, data-informed solutions that help job seekers achieve meaningful and sustainable career advancement.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmapping (30%)

  • Partner with the SVP of Product to define product vision, success metrics, and multi-quarter roadmaps.
  • Translate our organizational strategy, user insights, and labor market data into clear product priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, simplification, and differentiation in career navigation and workforce tech.

User Insights & Experience Design (20%)

  • Conduct or synthesize user research with job seekers, advisors, and workforce partners.
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative insights into user journeys, requirements, and UX improvements.
  • Analyze usage data and feedback for AI-powered features to drive iterative improvements and maintain ethical, human-centered design.
  • Advocate for accessibility, clarity, and trust-building throughout the product experience.

Execution & Delivery with Engineering (35%)

  • Serve as day-to-day product owner for our offshore engineering team, working across multiple workstreams to move projects forward.
  • Write clear, actionable user stories.
  • Manage sprint planning, backlog refinement, QA, and release processes.
  • Ensure technical approaches align with long-term product and architectural goals.
  • Partner with engineering and AI teams to deliver AI-powered features that enhance career navigation, personalization, and user guidance.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of platform architecture, APIs, data flows, and third-party integrations.
  • Oversee technical implementations such as product migrations, ensuring stability, accuracy, and no disruptions to users or partners.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Impact (15%)

  • Work with marketing, analytics, and partnerships teams to prepare for and support product launches.
  • Monitor product adoption, performance, and impact, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Regularly communicate product updates, decisions, and learnings to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Act as a product ambassador to translate user insights, data, and outcomes into clear narratives for partners and funders, helping build trust and engagement.
  • Provide marketing and partnerships with actionable user-behavior insights to guide aligned, mission-driven messaging and partnership selection.

Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable navigating complexity and identifying new opportunities.
  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in SaaS, workforce, education, or consumer-facing platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end product development with engineering teams (offshore experience a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills — using data to inform decisions, measure impact, and drive iteration.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Deep empathy for learners and job seekers, especially those facing barriers to career advancement.
  • Experience working with AI-powered products, LLMs, or recommendation systems (strongly preferred).
  • Ability to translate technical AI concepts into user-friendly experiences and measurable outcomes, while ensuring responsible AI development.
  • Proven ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple complex projects in collaboration with internal teams and external partners

And while all of the above qualifications are important, there are three demonstrated capabilities most important for this job, and they are (blatantly borrowed from Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn):

  • Dream Big
  • Get Sh*t Done
  • Know How to Have Fun

Compensation & Benefits

Target salary for this position is $130,000 - $160,000, depending on experience, geography, and internal equity.

SkillUp offers a generous compensation package which includes employer-sponsored healthcare, vision and dental, 401K employer match, 25 days of office closure, PTO, education stipend, and annual salary increases based on performance.
