Hours per week and Schedule of Work (Hours and Schedule of work are subject to change in accordance with Article 19): 35 hours per week. Hours of work to be determined.
Temporary Full Time position with an expected end date of October 30, 2026.
JOB SUMMARY:
• Under the direction of the designated supervisor, assists in the development, production, composition and layout of promotional materials, displays or documents using current techniques in graphic design and maintains appropriate inventory of materials and software
DUTIES:
• Develops, based on a creative briefing process, the conceptual design and layout for promotional material for public distribution, displays or internal documents
• Creates web/digital design work
• As directed, creates graphic layout and design concepts using standard design software and techniques
• Prepares material for printing reproduction and proofs material, assembling all camera-ready components; works with related service agencies
• Under direction, composes written copy of promotional material and library documents
• Maintains contact with commercial printing houses and software vendors
• Works with other staff individually or as part of a team in determining their graphic design requirements
• As directed, orders and maintains resource materials to support promotional projects
• Reviews developments in the graphic industry and makes recommendations on software, and graphic reproduction methods and procedures
• Assists with the design and execution of signs for library buildings
• Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent plus post-secondary graduation in Graphic Design
• A working knowledge of industry standard design, illustration and layout software obtained through 1 - 2 years’ experience
• Ability to provide creative/imaginative input to assigned projects
• Ability to compose copy in a clear concise manner as directed
• Ability to meet deadlines and work with a minimum of supervision
• Knowledge of various printing processes
