About Pachamama Alliance

Pachamama Alliance is an established San Francisco-based social-profit organization with a mission to partner with Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest to preserve their lands and culture and, using insights gained from that work, to educate and inspire individuals everywhere to bring forth a thriving, just and sustainable world.

About The Position

This is a hands-on, paid internship where you’ll work directly with our Social Media Manager to help shape how Pachamama Alliance shows up online. You’ll create content, support storytelling, and help grow the reach of a global movement working in partnership with Indigenous communities in the Amazon rainforest.

Because this role is highly creative and execution-focused, we ask applicants to include a portfolio of past social media work (e.g., posts, reels, campaigns, or content examples) that demonstrates your experience with content creation and editing.

Please share 3 examples of social media posts you have created. If you do not have prior experience, you are welcome to submit "mock” social media posts to demonstrate your creative thinking and approach.

This role is 10–20 hours per week and requires in-person attendance at our Presidio office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Brainstorm, shoot, and edit short-form video content.
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager on campaign ideas and storytelling angles.
  • Help turn field stories, events, and impact updates into engaging social content.
  • Organize and repurpose existing content for ongoing use.

Design & Content Systems

  • Create on-brand graphics using Canva (or Adobe tools if you prefer).
  • Build reusable templates to make content production faster and more consistent.
  • Support visual consistency across all social platforms.
  • Help improve how we store, organize, and reuse content assets.

Influencer & Partnership Research

  • Research creators, organizations, and voices aligned with climate and social impact.
  • Help identify potential influencer and partnership opportunities.
  • Support outreach efforts to collaborators and content partners.
  • Explore ways to build long-term, values-aligned creator relationships.

Community Engagement

  • Engage with our audience across platforms (comments, messages, shares).
  • Help nurture an active, thoughtful online community.
  • Identify meaningful conversations and opportunities to connect.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, Design, or related field.
  • Strong writing and communication skills (you care about tone, clarity, and storytelling).
  • Comfortable managing small projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Open to feedback and iterative creative work.
  • Curious about how content grows audiences and drives engagement.
  • Experience creating content for social platforms (personal, academic, or freelance).
  • Familiarity with tools like Canva, HubSpot, Asana, Adobe.
  • Interest in climate, Indigenous rights, storytelling for impact, or nonprofit communications.
