About Full Circle Future
Full Circle Future is a national, fully-remote advocacy organization dedicated to tackling one of the most solvable climate, health, and economic challenges of our time — organic waste.
When food and other organic waste is buried in landfills, it generates huge amounts of pollution that supercharges climate change, contaminates our air and water, and makes people sick. More than 115 million people live within 5 miles of a municipal solid waste landfill, making this an urgent, yet largely invisible, health crisis. Our waste management system is also a shameful economic and resource distribution failure. Every year, billions of dollars of wasted food are buried in landfills, while 48 million people — more than the population of California — experience food insecurity. It's a lose-lose situation where the only winners are the waste companies who profit from every pound of trash.
None of this is inevitable. Full Circle Future partners with organizations, policymakers, coalitions, and communities to advance strategic and equitable solutions to our big waste problem. We're building toward a future where everyone can breathe clean air and drink clean water, nobody goes hungry, and local economies reap the rewards of sustainable alternatives to landfilling.
Full Circle Future is a fiscally sponsored project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE)
The Role
The Research & Analytics Lead Analyst is a full-time, mid-level position within Full Circle Future's Research and Analytics department. This role sits at the intersection of scientific research, data analysis, and environmental justice advocacy. The Analyst supports the department's work to expose the impacts of landfills and waste management on people and the environment — gathering and synthesizing evidence across often disparate datasets, assisting in the development of written products and data visualizations, and helping build tools and resources that communities can use to understand and act on that evidence. The ideal candidate is a skilled researcher and analytical thinker who can connect the dots across complex, fragmented information to tell a clear and compelling story of impact and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research, Analysis & Science Communication
● Independently design and conduct research and data analysis to support active campaigns and organizing efforts — gathering and synthesizing evidence from scientific literature, regulatory data, public records, and environmental health research on landfills, waste management, and their impacts on communities and the environment.
● Exercise independent judgment working across large, often disconnected datasets to identify patterns, surface key findings, and develop recommendations that shape FCF's advocacy positions and campaign priorities.
● Determine the scope and translate findings into clear, accurate written products, presentations, and data visualizations — including fact sheets, reports, and campaign materials — determining scope and framing for general and community audiences.
● Serve as the internal lead with the Communications team and community partners to ensure research products are message-aligned, community-informed, and suitable for media and public audiences; serve as the internal lead on scientific accuracy across public-facing materials.
2. Community Tools & Engagement
● Lead the development of accessible tools and resources that give communities and everyday people the scientific grounding to advocate for change.
● Lead ongoing data updates and strategic feature development for the Waste Impact Tracker, identifying priorities based on community needs and campaign goals.
● Engage with frontline communities and coalition partners to understand their research needs, and determine how that feedback shapes data products and communications.
