Senior Software Developer 

Intertribal Software is seeking a Senior Software Developer to take on technical ownership of the continued modernization, security, and scalability of our flagship platform, OneTribe®. This is a high-impact role for an experienced engineer who is energized by complex problems, takes pride in writing durable software, and is ready to lead the technical work behind a product that serves Tribal Nations across the country. 

The Senior Developer will own significant features and architectural decisions on the Microsoft stack (C#/.NET, Azure, SQL Server), mentor junior engineers, lead code reviews, and partner with engineering leadership on the roadmap. As OneTribe® evolves from a legacy on-premises product to a modern cloud-native platform, this role will be a central force in that transformation — shaping how we build, what we build, and how we hold ourselves to a high-quality bar.

The Senior Developer will work remotely and collaborate closely with internal teams across engineering, professional services, and customer support. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  Technical Ownership 

• Own end-to-end design, development, testing, and delivery of complex features and components in OneTribe®; Identify gaps in our engineering systems and build the solutions to close them 

• Lead architectural decisions in partnership with engineering leadership; weigh tradeoffs across performance, security, maintainability, and cost 

• Drive the modernization of legacy on-premises systems to Azure cloud-native architecture (App Services, Azure SQL, Identity, Storage) 

• Build and evolve RESTful APIs and service integrations that support OneTribe®'s growth 

• Represent engineering in cross-functional conversations with professional services, support, and customer-facing teams 

  Quality, Security & Reliability 

• Champion secure development practices and own meaningful contributions to SOC II and other compliance initiatives 

• Own production reliability for major systems, including root-cause ownership for high-priority incidents 

• Drive improvements in automated testing, CI/CD, and deployment practices across the team 

• Document technical designs, decisions, and operational runbooks clearly enough that future engineers can pick them up without you 

Professional Requirements and Technical Competencies 

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated technical leadership on complex projects 

• Deep proficiency in C# and .NET (ASP.NET Core) 

• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Azure SQL (Managed Instance), Storage, Identity, and broader cloud architecture 

• Strong SQL Server experience, including schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures 

• Solid working knowledge of JavaScript and HTML/CSS, including experience with modern frontend frameworks 

• Strong experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or equivalent) 

• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, web application architecture, and service integration patterns 

• Track record of owning complex technical work end-to-end, from design through deployment and operation 

• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and raise the technical standards of a team 

• Strong commitment to secure coding practices and software quality 

Bonus Qualifications (Preferred but Not Required) 

• Experience leading cloud migrations from on-premises systems to Azure 

• Experience with SOC II compliance, security certifications, or secure development lifecycles 

• Experience with Power BI, Laserfiche, or other reporting/analytics tools 

• Experience setting up or improving QA infrastructure, including automated testing frameworks 

• Experience working with Tribal Nations, government software systems, or enterprise SaaS
