UX Designer
Rune Labs · San Francisco, CA
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the VP of Product, the UX Designer will serve as a key strategic partner and hands-on execution lead for our patient-facing products (including StrivePD). Your primary focus will be driving patient engagement and retention, taking our network from thousands to hundreds of thousands of active users.
In this role, you will bridge high-level strategy, behavioral science concepts, and end-to-end product design. You’ll sit shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering and cross-functional partners, turning complex neurological and scientific data into intuitive, habit-forming consumer app experiences.
Core Responsibilities
-
Drive Patient Engagement & Growth: Lead end-to-end UX/UI design initiatives aimed directly at increasing patient adoption, streamlining onboarding, and boosting long-term engagement within our StrivePD ecosystem.
- Translate Strategy into Solutions: Function as a strategic thought partner to Product leadership, taking high-level product goals and conceptual ideas and translating them into concrete, actionable design solutions.
- Leverage Behavioral Science: Apply principles of behavioral design and data visualization to translate complex health, scientific, and tracking data into meaningful, user-friendly experiences for patients and caregivers.
- Execute End-to-End Design: Maintain a tight feedback loop with Engineering; sit in the weeds with developers to ship polished features, leverage and expand our existing design system, and utilize modern design/AI tools to move fast.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Clinical team members to balance strategic patient engagement goals with technical feasibility and execution speed.
What You Bring
In this role, we measure impact by your ability to bring:
- Proven Consumer Growth Experience: Background designing consumer-facing mobile/web applications, with a track record of scaling engagement (e.g., growing products from ~10K to 100K+ users).
- Strategic & Hands-On Hybrid Mindset: Equally comfortable stepping back to design overall direction and solution architecture as you are getting into the weeds with UX/UI execution.
- Interest in Behavioral Science & Health Data: Passion or background in behavioral design, habit loops, or translating complex health/scientific metrics into empowering user experiences.
- Pragmatic Design System & Tooling Mastery: Experience leveraging established design systems and modern tools (including AI workflows) to maintain speed and consistency.
- Collaborative Engineering Partnership: Strong track record working closely with software engineers to bring features from concept to production without unnecessary friction.
- Self-directed. You can take a goal, run with it, and come back with work progress while keeping your partners looped in along the way.
- Experience Level: ~5-8 years of dedicated UX/UI experience in a product environment. Looking for someone thriving in an individual contributor role who loves the core work of design.

Join us in our mission to empower individuals with Parkinson's disease to better manage their condition and improve their quality of life through innovative technology.
About Us
Rune Labs is advancing precision neurology through software, data science, and care delivery innovation. We build solutions that help patients, caregivers, clinicians, and partners make better decisions with continuous, real-world neurological data. Our Parkinson's ecosystem includes StrivePD and StrivePD Guardian, which combine FDA-cleared Apple Watch symptom tracking, patient-reported data, and clinical-grade insight into how a patient’s disease is actually behaving day to day.
What makes this unusual: StrivePD reaches people living with Parkinson’s Disease directly. People find us, download the app, and use it on their own to inform and empower their daily lives. That direct-to-consumer channel is largely untapped, and it's the growth engine this role gets to build.
