Senior PL/SQL Developer
ROI Solutions, Inc · Medford, MA / Boston, MA / Remote (Select US States)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior PL/SQL Developer to help us continue to evolve the database-layer business logic that powers Revolution CRM. This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll work deep inside a large, mature Oracle database with complex stored procedures, packages, triggers, and data pipelines.
You’ll write, optimize, and maintain the PL/SQL code that implements core business operations: payment processing, data exports, integrations, scheduled jobs, and reporting logic and become a critical contributor to both platform stability and future modernization.
Responsibilities
Day-to-Day
- Design, develop, and maintain PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, and triggers that implement CRM business logic.
- Optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL code for performance across a large-scale multi-tenant environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in database-layer code: trace execution paths, identify root causes, and deploy fixes.
- Support data pipeline operations: scheduled jobs, exports, imports, and integrations with external systems.
- Collaborate with application developers (Java) to ensure clean boundaries between application and database logic.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain documentation for database logic and processes.
Modernization
- Identify and refactor legacy PL/SQL code for performance, maintainability, and portability.
- Contribute to decisions about what business logic should remain in the database vs. migrate to the application layer over time.
- Support integration with modern data platforms where CRM data feeds downstream analytics.
- Help establish best practices for PL/SQL development: version control, code review, testing, and repeatable deployment processes.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on PL/SQL development - packages, procedures, functions, triggers, collections, bulk operations
- Expert-level SQL - complex queries, execution plan analysis, performance tuning across large datasets
- Oracle database internals knowledge - understanding of how Oracle executes queries, manages memory, handles concurrency, and processes transactions
- Performance tuning experience - you’ve diagnosed and fixed slow queries, optimized batch processes, and improved throughput on production systems
- Multi-tenant or multi-schema experience - you’ve worked in environments where one database serves many customers with isolated data
- Production troubleshooting - you’re comfortable tracing issues through database logs, execution plans, and application behavior to find root causes under pressure
- Linux proficiency - our Oracle environment runs on Linux. You’re comfortable working in a Linux environment, navigating the filesystem, reading logs, and running command-line tools.
- Data security awareness - you understand the implications of working in a multi-tenant environment with PII. You think about data isolation, access control, and compliance as part of development, not as an afterthought.
- Collaboration skills - you’ll work closely with Java developers, QA engineers, and product managers. Clear communication about technical constraints and timelines matters.
- Agile experience - you’ve worked in sprint-based development cycles with standups, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle DB@AWS (or Oracle on OCI/cloud infrastructure)
- Experience with DBMS_SCHEDULER, Oracle Jobs, and batch processing orchestration
- Experience with data migration or platform modernization in legacy systems
- Familiarity with version control for database code (Git, GitLab, Liquibase, or similar)
- Experience with a PL/SQL SDLC: managing database code in source control, branching strategies for schema changes, migration scripts, code review workflows, and scripted deployments
- Experience in a multi-tenant SaaS environment
- Nonprofit or fundraising domain experience (understanding of donor records, gifts, campaigns, designations)
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Java/Oracle integration patterns (JDBC, connection pooling)
- Familiarity with modern data platforms (understanding how CRM data feeds analytics)
- Experience mentoring junior developers on database development practices
- Proficiency with Oracle tooling: SQL Developer, TOAD, or similar
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for database deployment workflows
PLEASE NOTE:
- This role will work in the Eastern Time Zone.
- Limited travel. Generally fewer than five trips per year for in-person team, planning, or company meetings.
- This role is posted as remote, but it could be hybrid or in-office if that best fits your working style.
- This role is ONLY available for work in the following (24) locations: AL, AR, CO, FL, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NC, NH, NJ, PA, SC, TX, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, & DC.
If you don't meet all the requirements mentioned above, don't worry. We strongly believe in creating a diverse and inclusive work environment.
